Corresponding with Your Child
Mail to and from Kenya is slow, expensive, and sometimes subject to inspection and customs. For this reason, we use our mission teams to distribute your letters and also collect letters from the students. The students do not have regular access to computers much less the internet, so please do not plan to correspond with your child electronically.
In spite of these issues, we encourage sponsors to correspond with their students! Here are some guidelines:
- We do not give your address, phone, or e-mail address to the child.
- You may send occasional letters for your child to:

- If you have children at home, this could be a wonderful way for them to have a pen pal in another country.
- Your UMMS student will enjoy receiving a photo of you and your family.
- Please do not send gifts to your sponsored child. In addition to logistical difficulties with mail, it is awkward for other children at the school who do not receive gifts.
